If we knew that, we could build a jump drive. In-game, you feed power
and fuel to the jump drive and it generates them.

Remember, it's not a lot of hydrogen, probably a fair vacuum. And it
is more or less "trapped" by the jump bubble. It's there to prevent
problems if the bubble boundary moves a bit.
