Actually, a "rift"/wormhole is more apt to be a sphere (tthe sphere
is the 3D cross-section of the 4D "tunnel")
Which means you've got a volume based setup. You'd have to get *all*
of the ship inside the sphere before "collapsing" it to leave you in
jumpspace.

With the spherical rift, ships that have extended features will be at
a disadvantage because it'll take extra power to make the larger
rift. Spherical ships wopuld take the least power, but sphere's have
certain disadvantages too. Especialy as they get larger.
