Such a ship could come in real handy for exploration Adventures like the one from GDW that involved the 'Leviathan'.

You're thinking too small. Rather than
scrapping the engines and
buying them at auction, get the *ship* transfered to private
service
at a discount.
Finesse, not brute force.
