Since TNE I’ve assumed that berths can last for decades if not longer. And there is an emergency “wake up, get out” when they finally run down. IMTU berths are more for emergency use then day to day travel. Folks can pay the 1k for steerage (pack your own lunch, sit in the cargo bay with a tent).
