While I don't have any fundamental objection to the "Traveller-ization" of
the Tarot cards, I think that before any changes to the suits are made, one
should at least take stock of the fundamental symbolism of the suits, and
try to make any "re-suiting" for Traveller fit that symbolism in a
more-or-less obvious way.

*Swords* generally are interpreted as representing logic/intellect,
conflict, and/or power, and are associated with the classical element of
Air. Secondary symbolism will include birds and clouds.

*Cups* generally are interpreted as representing emotion/feeling, and/or
relationships; the elemental association is Water. Rivers, lakes, oceans,
and/or fish represent the elemental association.

*Staves* or *Wands* are interpreted as representing action, creativity,
and/or drive; the elemental association is Fire. Fire-centered secondary
symbols that appear on cards in this suit include the sun, flames,
sunflowers, or lions.

*Coins* or *Pentacles* are interpreted as representing stability and/or
material wealth, and are associated with Earth. Secondary symbols on cards
in this suit will be Earth-centered, such as cities or towers, mountains or
hills, or trees or gardens.
