I might argue the point that many things that we had no explanation for were deemed “supernatural” although as our knowledge increased some sort of “rational” explanation made itself known. I won’t get into whether or not the rationalization was accurate or not, but it seems to be the tendency to attribute the currently unexplainable to the “supernatural”, at least in my experience.
