Dear Subscriber,

With the arrival of October, we face the fact that the year is slowly drawing to an end.  If you're like me, a lover of all things autumn, that still means the best part of the year lies ahead of us - but soon it will be winter, and we'll be wondering what lies ahead in 2020.

As I write this, I realize it's time to confess that the year is not the only thing drawing to an end.  Victorian Times is also coming to a close.  December will be our last issue.

The reason is, quite simply, that I am running out of material.  That may seem odd, given that the site itself has over 12,000 articles from Victorian magazines - but the vast majority are not appropriate for Victorian Times.  Many are too long, many are too difficult to reformat for the site, and most simply just aren't the right type of content.  So I've faced the question of whether I want to invest in a host of new Victorian magazines (is that a contradiction in terms?) to try to bolster my supply of articles - or whether it is time to simply, gracefully, take a bow and say farewell.  My budget, and my tolerance for scanning yet another humongous supply of Victoriana, have convinced me to take the latter course.  I will miss it, and you - and I rather selfishly hope you'll miss it as well.  But there's lots to explore on the site!

And it's time to move on.  My new goal is to actually complete (well, better yet, actually start) a novel I've been working on in my head for the last three years.  Time to get it out of the brain cells and onto actual paper.  I'll keep you posted!  Meanwhile, newsletter will remain "active" for announcements regarding the site and any new items that we may have to offer - but after December it will no longer be monthly.  I thank you all for your wonderful support!
