[OFF-TOPIC] PSA: DO-NOT-DRIVE RECALL FOR SOME GMC/CHEVY/CADILLAC TRUCKS AND SUVS Jeff Zeitlin 17 May 2026 21:18 UTC

Windows 11 has a MSN Digest feed built-in. I saw an article in that feed
today that gave few details, but noted that General Motors has issued a DO
NOT DRIVE recall for several models of GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac SUVs
and trucks.

The recall applies to all model years 2018 and subsequent, but not all
models; the affected vehicles all had engines assembled at a specific plant
in Mexico where quality control is found to have failed. Affected vehicle
may be subject to the engine seizing and burning. If you normally drive a
vehicle that may be affected, contact your dealer or GM and determine
whether your vehicle is in fact covered by this recall. If so, GM will tow
your vehicle to the dealer for correction of the flaw.

At the present time, this is a NORTH AMERICAN recall, i.e. vehicles sold in
the US, Canada, and Mexico. Vehicles sold outside North America are not
know to be affected at this time.
