ESSAY QUESTION: What makes a good introductory adventure? Jeff Zeitlin 22 Mar 2026 22:32 UTC

Suppose you were just getting a Traveller game together for the first time.
You've found a group that's interested and willing to try, with you as the
referee. You've got a set of core rules (doesn't matter which ones). You've
got plenty of dice, paper, and writing implements. You've even got... wait,
no you don't. You need an adventure, and it occurs to you that since you're
not really a skilled referee and your players have no experience at all
with Traveller, what you want is a relatively simple adventure, one that's
good for introducing your players to Traveller.

What would you want in that adventure - in other words, what makes an
adventure a good choice for introducing a table to Traveller?

(I'm not looking for people to name specific adventures, but if you want to
do so, feel free, but also make sure you explain why you feel that
adventure is a good choice as an introductory.)
