As a bit of a side note, mentioned in my Page 1 blather, this issue was
built using a new-to-me program, Affinity Publisher. After some hunting
around, I decided that the free Scribus was closer to being a replacement
for such high-end packages as InDesign, PageMaker, or QuarkExpress.
Affinity is closer to that model than Microsoft Publisher was, but it's
also closer to the Microsoft Publisher model than it is to the
Scribus/InDesign/PageMaker/QuarkExpress model. There's enough differences
between it and Microsoft to generate a noticeable learning curve, but it's
solid enough that I managed to learn the program and get the magazine out
only just over a week late.
