Of course, meson guns appear to fire much more slowly than battleships at Jutland, not the least because they mounted 8 guns each. Hits per unit time might be more similar.

There were quite a few hits at Yogurtland. The book Jutland, an Analysis of the Fighting, covers every hit scored and attempts to document where the shell hit, its path within the ship, where it detonated, and the damage that it caused. Definitely an insane Kotaku work.

All,

I appreciate the light-hearted comment about my father's work.
He would be glad to know people are enjoying and playing with the work he gave.

It's interesting you used the World War I skirmish of Jutland as a point of reference for the severity of the attack.
I don't recall there being many accurate hits at Jutland to be fair.

Respectfully,

Does anyone know if the Meson Screen Penetration Table was ever composed?
It's missing from the Combat Section of the HG3 pdf & it is kinda' critical.

A 'Tigress' would have about a 69% chance of getting hit by a Class 'T' (TL15 max) meson spinal after rolling for basic 'to hit' & config penetration (5+ for each) &, if the meson screen is penetrated, the HG3 rules mandate no less than NINE(!) damage rolls on EACH of the two damage tables that a meson gun uses (18 rolls total!). Now, you do get a +DM = (screen factor), which is 9 @ Tl15, on the damage tables, but 18 damage rolls is pretty much gonna' kill any ship.

CT HG had the same problem.
Meson guns were so deadly & so accurate, even with max screen factor (9 @ TL15), that I found I had to 'jury-rig' some rules mods in order to play a game w/ ships that would last very long once the meson guns opened up.

p.s. Just came up with a simple analogy. A meson gun hit in HG(n) is like an early-model British BC taking a hit from a large-caliber shell at Jutland. And the biggest german gun at Jutland was 12"! Altho, at Jutland, I do NOT believe there was 69% accuracy!
