I assume this is the effect I get from my garden hose. It doesn't have a nozzle of any kind on the end so it just 'pours' water like a tap if I simply hold it. But I can spray water *way* past the reach of the hose to my wife's distant vegetable patch if I hold my thumb over the end in just the right way. (And hold my thumb a different way and I get a lovely wide arc spray.)
