Just a quick note for those interested.
Today's lunchtime Traveller session went well.
Rather amazingly/bizarrely, there was a documentary on BBC last night. Louis Theroux investigating/interviewing sex workers on the Bissonet 'track' (i.e. road where prostitutes illegally work) in Houston, in particular focussing on their relationships with their pimps.
I really felt like I was doing my homework! Terrific timing.
With that and Andrea's notes + my four characters I'd generated last Thursday, I felt very much more prepared and comfortable than I might have done otherwise.
The session covered moving from the "Lower Park" of the orbital station to a kava shop on it's boundary. Lower Perk, of course, and yes there was a sofa...
We had their backstories and one of the PCs, a bit of a do-gooder immediately warmed/fell for? the illness history and wants to help. (As well as offering the other three at least job interviews with his valet/major domo as potential servants.)
From the documentary I learned that a pimp might be called a Daddy and one of the players had his PC play a real 'square' (another term I learned) in completely misunderstanding the nature of the whole relationship.
We also managed a bit more looking for the plants they were originally after but now with added trying to track down the very very rare one that's needed for the medicine. Which of course no one, not even the local expert they've hired, has heard of.
Of course, one snag is that these PCs can essentially buy anything they want to. They have millions of Credits as disposable income. So I've been trying to come up with a convincing reason why this very rare plant which is known to be on station, can't just be bought.
