Evening PDT again Jeff,

CT Book 2 Starships 2e 1977/1981 6th printing:

Page 13: "In all cases , the power plant letter must be equal to or exceed either the maneuver drive letter or jump drive letter whichever is higher.'

Page 15: Fuel Tankage = 0.1MJn + 10Pn

Page 20 Patrol Cruiser 400 d-ton J-3, M-4, and the Power Plant must be equal to or exceed either the maneuver drive letter or jump drive letter whichever is higher which means that the Power Plant is 4.

Fuel Tankage = (0.1 x 400 x 3) + (10 x 4) = (40 x 3) + 40 = 120 + 40 = 160 d-tons.

120 d-tons of fuel does not support a J-3 or does not operate power plant at all.

From Donald McKinney's Consolidated CT Errata:
Page 20, Patrol Cruiser (type T) (correction and omission): The fuel tankage should be 160 tons. Pulse lasers are installed. The correct cost is MCr 229.59 (after discount), and the ship takes 16 months to build.

No, B2/1981 shows the 400td Patrol Cruiser shows 120 fuel:

>Patrol Cruiser (type T): Using a custom 400-ton hull, the patrol
>cruiser is a military vessel used for customs inspections, piracy
>suppression, and normal safety patrols. It has jump drive-F, maneuver

Extracting the relevant line:

Recalling (and confirming from the book) that Jump Fuel is (disp * 0.1
* jump), the required jump fuel for the Type T is (400 * 0.1 * 3), or
120. Which is the cited fuel tankage. And yet it supports the Power
Plant as well. For zero fuel? Ummm... No. Not when there's a formula
that PP fuel is 10*Plant Rating. So for a power plant whose rating in
a given hull is '2', that means 20 tons. Note that I can't actually
find the cite for "four weeks", but that seems to be the Core
Assumption.
