I pictured it with the barbettes mounted above the deck level so they looked like fore and stern castles, giving it a more galleon look.

The firm points are bought as two hybrid SLM turrets, and one quad missile turret on each side,  then cosmetically split to individual mounts on the broadside.  In combat the upper and lower SLM can be used as only one item per turn.  The quad missile is counted as a single "turret" and can only fire on one target

I'm keeping this for future use, as a "Trader/Gunboat", rather than
calling it a 'galleon'. It certainly captures the _spirit_ of the
seagoing galleon.

I will note that I think that one could simply add outriggers and
Casimir-radiation-catching sails to it, and have it be right at home
in Drake's "Republic of Cinnabar Navy" universe.

What I was really hoping for, as I more-or-less indicated to Ethan,
was something that emulated the appearance of the galleon, with the
high front, higher rear, low midships, front narrower than rear,
widest amidships, but not excessively so. Along with a 'justification'
(read: 'rationalization', if appropriate) for the odd and likely
inefficient shape.

That said...

Although I've not yet dived into T5 (though I do have it [and need to
download the 5.09 update]), I 'get' the splitting of hardpoints into
firmpoints. By my count, you've got 20 firmpoint weapons (broadsides)
plus two barbettes (chase). At three weapons per hardpoint, I get a
max of 15 weapons for the ship vs stated armament of 20 + (2 or 4
depending on how barbette weapons are counted) - how does it end up so
heavily gunned?

(And... got deckplans?)
