Actually, what you want are biomes.

They are kinda climate, kinda not.

So for example, you get a tundra type biome in the far north and
south, but also above the treeline on mountains.


No Leonard I used the correct terms, Your correct is kinda correct, but not in this case. As most Biome classification does not carry inherent topography information the way climatic classification does.
