But if there *were* an ether, it would solve several of Traveller's physics problems. E.g. it would provide an absolute rest frame to resolve various relativistic problems, it would give reactionless drives something to push against, etc. never mind that it's completely invalidated by various experiments. :)

I think I'll stick with the aether. That's definitely an "exotic particle" . . . seeing as how it doesn't really exist, at least not in *our* dimension. :)
