One of the bits I remember best  . . .

. . . was something that put me very much in mind of PCs.

At one point during Tet, one of the tanks lost a tread (to an anti-tank mine IIRC). Although otherwise undamaged, it had to be abandoned, as the area was too hot for field repairs to be conducted. Some hours later, the battle had shifted away and the area had grown quiet. Zumbro and Friends were inspired by this relative calm to try sneaking back to the abandoned tank - ON FOOT - to see if they could get it rolling once more.

But they had only gotten about a block when their walkie-talkie squawked with the following commander to commander exchange:

Battalion C.O. (overseeing the battle from a light helicopter): "Alpha Actual, tell your tankers to get back in their ride and get back to business."
Company C.O.: "Battalion, how do you know any of my guys are outside their tanks?"
Battalion C.O.: "Because what *other* group is going to be strolling through the AOE in baseball caps, cutoffs and sneakers?"
