Thank-you for providing another bit of information to my limited knowledge of T5, which is still on my wish list of gaming material to purchase. Another thank you for reminding me about MT's rule set.
To be honest, I preferred the CT LBB 2 1977 or the MT rules with the power plant linked only to the maneuver drive.
I am glad to have provided some information on the rules that does not appear to be out in a field somewhere.

But the power plant doesn't need to exceed the J-Drive...

I tend to pull from MegaT as my base. In those, it says the J-Drive
has its own reactor.
Although, I just checked the T5 rules. Coming from Miller his
own-self, that would seem to be pretty darn canon...
...and You're right, by those, and I'm wrong.
T5 gets explicit on the whole thing, and says it draws from the ship's
power plant.
I yield the point, sir.
