Hello all,
Since I’m still waiting for feedback [TML] T4 QSDS Question: Sensors
I’ve been trying to figure out TNE FF&S Mk I Mod 0 with
Consolidated
TNE Errata updates.
A TML or COTI member asked questions while trying to replicate
TNE Brilliant Lance Technical Booklet )BL TB) using TNE FF&S Mk I Mod
0.
I decided to answer the persons question and until running into
space missiles have been building TNE spreadsheets for Books 2
and 3.
I feel that I’ve got a handle on lasers, though my rounding has
some minor differences and tried to apply the knowledge to
T4 QSDS only to be thwarted since I’m not sure how to
convert TNE FF&S into T4 QSDS specifications.
Still trying to help we attempted to replicate the space missile table
designs
from page 153 and have stalled on (1) the nuclear-pumped x-ray laser
warhead
including the guidance package and (2) the EAPlaC self-contained
thruster’s
note about a single engine producing a minimum of 100 tonnes of
thrust.
My reading of the rules for TNE FF&S Book 3 Chapter 9 page 135 is
that
the missiles in the table on page 153 have a warhead, guidance
package,
and propellant in the form of an EAPlaC SRF self contained thruster.
The
other persons reading per the nuclear-pumped x-ray laser warhead is
the
warhead contains the guidance package.
The EAPlaC thruster is actually the major point of contention since
the
self-contained thruster notes states that a single EAPlaC engine
produces
a minimum of 100 tonnes of thrust. Book 2 Chapter 9 has two
methods
for determining required thrust.
1. 10 tonnes of thrust x displacement tons to achieve an acceleration of
1G
2. 1 tonne of thrust x Tonnes of mass to achieve an acceleration of
1G
A space missile has a mass of 7 tonnes and a volume of 7 m^3 or 0.5
displacement tons.
Method 1: 10 x 0.5 = 5 tonnes of thrust to achieve 1 G of
acceleration
Method 2: 1 x 7 = 7 tonnes of thrust to achieve 1 G of acceleration
I am trying to figure out how one EAPlaC based on the written information
that
has no errata can find produce less than 100 tonnes of thrust.
Of course I have additional issues that cover calculating all the
self-contained
thruster specifications of mass, volume, cost, fuel consumption, fuel
volume,
fuel mass, and fuel cost.
Can someone here please step me through designing a space missile
please?
Thank you for any help?
