Funny!  I could see it almost exactly the opposite way around: a rich
wife can acquire and support a husband by themselves, with all the
associated military expenditures and maintenance of land-related
operations.  Poorer ones may have to make do with pooling their
resources with other women to support a male -- and generally one of
lower status.

This is of course totally contrary to canon, but it's interesting how
the conclusions vary simply due to what angle you look at things from.
