T5 has some rules for this kind of thing - there's a ratio of crew:living space that determines a livability factor, which is used to compute "Tension" which then applies to the Sanity of the crew. Crew members who fail enough Sanity checks get into a mode where they have minuses on skill rolls, and all skill rolls involving Int or Edu become "Uncertain"
The amount of space (bridge space especially) also influences "Ergonomics", which influences a mishap roll for the whole ship per 'change of scene'
