Hello Guy,

I have revamped my spreadsheet to make transferring the work over easier for me.

I went through the TL-9 Basic, Improved, Small Military, and Medium Military packages again this time testing them for both fixed and folding antenna arrays.

I discovered that the Min Length for the TL-9 systems appear to be for folding antenna arrays and the volume and cost are calculated for fixed arrays.

TNE FF&S p. 52 the Basic 60,000 km HRT has a fixed antenna diameter of 10 m and as agreed upon in our discussions so far the folding antenna has a diameter of 5 meters. Per TNE FF&S fixed antenna’s have a volume modifier of 0.05 and a folding antenna’s modifier is 0.1. The volume of a HRT antenna  x 1 equals the price in MCr.

TL-9 HRT
Range: 60,000 km
Min Length with fixed antenna: 10 m
Volume: (Processor) 1.5 + (Antenna) 2 = 3.5 m^3 = 3.5 /14 = 0.2500 Td
Power: (Processor) 0.15 MW
Cost: (Processor) 1.5 + (Antenna) 2 = MCr 3.5
Area: (Antenna) 40 m^2

Min Length with folding antenna: 5 m
Volume: (Processor) 1.5 + (Antenna) 4 = 5.5 m^3 = 5.5 /14 = 0.3929 Td
Power: (Processor) 0.15 MW
Cost: (Processor) 1.5 + (Antenna) 4 = MCr 5.5
Area: (Antenna) 40 m^2

The total TL-9 Basic Sensor Package
Min Length with fixed antenna: 10 m
Volume: (RADAR) 0.75 + (HRT) 0.25 = 1.0 Td
Power: (RADAR) 2 + (HRT) 0.15 = 2.00 + 0.15 = 2.15 = 2.2 MW
Cost: (RADAR) 10.25 + (HRT) 3.5 = 10.25 + 3.5 = 13.75 = MCr 13.8
Area: (Antenna) 40 m^2

Min Length with folding antenna: 5 m
Volume: (RADAR) 0.75 + (HRT) 0.3928 = 0.75 + 0.3928 = 1.1428 = 1.1 Td
Power: (RADAR) 2 + (HRT) 0.15 = 2.00 + 0.15 = 2.15 = 2.2 MW
Cost: (RADAR) 10.25 + (HRT) 3.5 = 10.25 + 5.5 = 15.75 = MCr 15.8
Area: (Antenna) 40 m^2

The volume for system fixed antenna rounded as follows (RADAR) 0.75 = 0.8 + (HRT) 0.25 = 3 = 1.1 Td and a system with a folding antenna would have a volume of Volume: (RADAR) 0.75 =0.8 + (HRT) 0.3928 = 0.4 = 0.8 + 0.4 = 1.2 Td.

Even with the radar antenna cost errata the basic sensor package with fixed antenna cost is closer to the QSDS 1.5 p. 11 Basic Sensor Cost of MCr 13.5.

I’m going to repost the TL-9 sensor results, but this time I’ll being showing my work for a single package.

However, if the TL-9 packages are an indication at minimum all the “Min Length” column may need to be adjusted from their current values. For TL-9 packages the cost is changed at minimum to reflect the radar antenna price errata.
