Can't open the windows if they are BRG.   That will probably not be a
selling point.

I plan on one or the other (possibly both) ends of the window wall to being a rolling door (you can't really call it "sliding" when it will probably weigh ~400 lbs) opening onto a patio (lower level) or balcony (middle level).

Also, scale up support for the windows.  BRG is *heavy*, particularly
if you want to stop .50 rounds.

I don't really want to stop .50 rounds, just handgun rounds (and angry ex-whatevers). But there will be plenty of support, as the uprights between each pane will be 12" deep by 4" wide concrete columns, coated with an epoxy finish,.

I suspect you will loose whatever passive solar you gain to heat
leaking around the window mounting and/or transmitted through the
glass.

The expoxy-coated concrete won't be expanding or contracting very much. Neither will the BRG. So any leaks will be minimal. Heat loss during cold weather  night hours will be reduced by built-in thermal blinds. Each pane of the window wall will be essentially a mini-solarium; what heat may be lost at night or on cloudy days can be made back up on sunny ones.

Exactly. :)

Side note, while BRG is sturdy, the surface finish is also kind of
fragile.  Which means some knob with a nail can scratch their initials
in the surface, and while there is no chance the glass will break,
mechanical etching is not a challenge.  (and special cleaning
requirements, blah blah blah....)

Clear epoxy coating on the panes?

carpet is both practical and aethetically pleasing.  Concrete is
practical, but for different reasons.

It sounds like you are renting something close to jail cells, minus the bars.

Concrete is actually a very versatile material. When cast creatively then epoxy-coated and/or treated with dyes, it can be quite aesthetically pleasing:
