Hello John Geoffrey,
I'm currently comparing TNE FF&S with T4 Book 1 QSDS 1.5e , T4 Book 2 Starships SSDS, and T4 Book B FF&S, with a high probability of going through T4 book 3 Central Supply Catalog's Vehicle Design Sequence. I have also used GURPS Vehicles and GURPS Traveller related design systems far more than TNE FF&S or T4 FF&S, though I won't say I'm and expert.
The short answer in my opinion is that T4 Book B FF&S is a modified version of TNE FF&S. Both are complex design systems based on the level of detail and options presented. TNE FF&S has been real world tested for a while and generated a lot of errata. Unfortunately, T4 as a whole did not get the same going over and is still in need of going through.
GURPS Vehicles is the starting point for their Traveller products and in my opinion are equally complex as TNE FF&S and T4 Book B FF&S.
My advise is to go with the one that you find easiest to work through.
Not much help, but then I am digging through T4 when others have suggested to use TNE.

Is there a big difference between Fire, Fusion and Steel for TNE and for
T4? I haven't really found many reviews for the both of them, safe for
some that say that the TNE version is way too complex and the T4 version
has issues. I know that both of them have copious errata.
Or should I just go for some GURPS books instead?
