Would anything of Neptune's rather paltry (I understand) rings be visible from Triton?

This is just a wild guess on my part. But I suspect that when viewed from what amounts to "point-blank range" (relative to how far away we on Earth are from them) the rings as viewed from Triton would likely be *quite* impressive . . .

That's a fair point.   The 'paltry' comment was probably someone comparing them with Saturn's rings.

Funnily enough I was passing the 300s this morning in the library (social sciences etc) and someone had dumped a gorgeous coffee table Hubble photographs book there.  Naturally I picked it up to have it shelved properly, but couldn't help but get lost in it en route.  It is a spectacular book.

Anyway, I did check to see if there was a photo of Triton.  No luck, but a pretty nifty picture of Neptune and I was surprised by how good a picture of Pluto they managed from Earth orbit.

The major snag with writing this adventure, reading the Wikipedia article, looking through this book, is....  I just want to go!  Of course, that's probably why I'm doing the writing... Nearest I'll get.
