Afternoon Kenneth,

Houston we have a failure to communicate.

To me the discount price calculated in HG makes the ship a standard design. Building a single unit is a custom design.

Book 2 on the other hand indicated that a standard hull was divided into two parts the engineering section that could only mount the drives and power plant and the main compartment got everything else stuffed into it. A custom hull for Book 2 allows you to get rid of the two sections and just stuff the components anywhere in the hull.

I'm probably looking at this wrong but I consider the custom hulls in LBB 2 to be the standard hulls in LBB 5. This means that, like LBB 5 allows, the standard drives and all associated requirements can be used in LBB 5 hulls up to 5,000 tons.

I am hoping that what I typed above might be what you are saying.

As I read it (and use the terms), there are no "standard hulls" in HGv2.

LBB2v2 has 6 different "standard hulls" ranging from 100-ton to 1000-ton.  Alternatively, you could use a "custom hull" of any size for MCr 0.1 per dT.  Into these hulls you put the A thru Z "standard drives".

HGv2 uses "custom hulls" only ("standard hulls" are not mentioned), at a cost of MCr 0.1 per dT, modified by Configuration. Into these hulls are put "custom drives", at a cost and volume dependent on desired drive-number and ship tonnage.  Alternatively, you could use one of the LBB2v2 A thru Z "standard drives".

But yes, if using a "custom hull" (which is the same in LBB2v2 and HGv2, except for HGv2 having Configuration), then the "standard drives" are only available on ships up to 5000-ton.  Even a Z-drive wouldn't be able to shift a craft larger than that.

That's how I read it.

Cheers!
