adventures featured that many pre-generated PCs?

I suppose that's one way of looking at it, but given my practical experience across multiple games, my reply would be "your funeral." :p

 
 
 
I also generally had about four players, rarely as many as six. :)
 
Although I did run *A* session of R. Talsorian Cyberpunk 2020 which featured a grand total of sixteen (16) players.
 
Fortunately, they were actually two competing runner teams who spent the night shooting each other. :P
