That's what I went for.  He has an albeit very large plaque on the wall that his last command made for him and it means more to him for who made it than the fact it chronicles his career in the Marines.
 
Everybody he allows into this room already knows his reputationa and accomplishments


He made the news, especially the social news, just by joining the Marines.  He comes from an exceedingly wealthy family and could have taken the route many of his social station did and join the Navy and be given an appointment as an officer.   Instead he joined the Marines as a boot private, applied to and was accepted to Force Recon and later went to OCS. 

He is not usual for his family given his great uncle by the same name was a highly decorated Marine who was lost in combat.  I'll be posting the WIP to Deviant Art later today.  Warning:  there are flaws in the image such as the window pane behind his desk.  It occurred to me very late last night  he would have an interior office rather than a window office on two grounds:  1) not good to have enemies and have your back to a window and 2) security risk for eavesdropping on conversations being held in his office and/or adjoining conference room.
