That depends on how accurate meson guns are IYTU (and if you even have them at all).

If you have meson guns which can achieve an accuracy of +/- 10 meters or so over typical battle ranges, then you are probably going to want to design your bigger ships with (so far as possible) an unpredictable interior structure.

Also, with something as big as a Tigress, you might want to consider designing each of the "soccer ball segments" as full-scale ships in their own right. They just usually travel as a single vessel. Think of the surprise factor, the first time the segments split apart in combat . . .

It could even be that such an SSS (Separate Soccer Segments) design is what inspired the battlerider concept: e.g. the Tigress SSS design becomes an intermediate step in the evolution from old-style battleships (e.g. Plankwells) to modern battleriders.
