I am indeed pleased - and, to be honest, a little apprehensive! Mostly pleased, though.
I'd say don't be apprehensive but I know that feeling exactly. It most likely won't go away until five minutes in! I'm feeling it with regard to the tech working, the refereeing remotely (and maybe even having a visitor present!). But hopefully it will be fun... so don't stress... :-)
As to location, sorry, I didn't say, did I? I'm about 300 miles north of you, in Durham. Sunny Durham of late, as it happens - for a change!
Ah. No. I hadn't gathered. And there was me thinking we'd have an American or maybe even an Antipodean for a change. But not a problem, it may not increase my 'diversity level' for the campaign but you're very welcome. At least it saves stressing about time zones... although Durham is quite far north...! (My parents were originally Geordies, so I'm not unfamiliar with places north of Watford.)
Webex rings a bell, I think I've used it before although not at home. From what I recall, I don't think it'll be a problem. Still, I've already started using at least three new remote communication platforms since this started, so a refresher on another should be simple!
Yes, it's not hard to use. I've heard that things like Roll20 require quite a steep learning curve and can be technically iffy on occasions, so I'm not sure I can face starting from scratch on that. The only advantage seems to be that it will let you roll dice 'visibly' but quite frankly I'm happy for my players to roll their own. If they really want to cheat..., well.
I'll peruse the options you've given below thoroughly and get back to you on my preference.
OK, will start planning what we're doing when I know!
For the sake of everyone else, I'll take further communications off list. But many thanks TML for the interest shown. No doubt eventually there'll be a write up - this time you might be able to get a triangulation as to its accuracy!
cheers
