I don't know whether it's got anything to do with hemispherical differences
(though I doubt it, just because of _where_ the cyclonic storms form), but
the premise was based on some world-building of unknown accuracy by Baen
author Tom Kratman, in his Terra Nova series. My Kottabhumi is, for all
intents and purposes, his Terra Nova, as far as weather/climate is
concerned, and his worldbuilding included the increased reliance on
airships instead of jets. I thought it was an interesting idea, and wanted
to see what some of our gearheads could come up with for airships, which
don't seem to have been given much space in prior Traveller world-building.
I quite agree they're rather overlooked. But not entirely. The Windermann Incident by Martin Dougherty in _Crowded Hours_ (from Mongoose but reprinting Avenger adventures so it existed at one point as an Avenger PDF) features them. The deck plans leave a lot to be desired in both print and the Crowded Hours PDF, but usable ones (in PDF form) were published on the Mongoose downloads site. I've not checked DriveThru to see if this/these are still available.
