My guess is that when GDW introduced CT they did not consider or expect the fan response which overwhelmed the staff allowing for the diversity that has resulted. The GDW staff was also working on established and developing other games.


Heck, in my opinion, even the staff changed the material. In CT LBB 2 Starships you can by empty single, dual, and triple turrets. When CT LBB 5 High Guard came out they tossed out empty turrets and only takes in the cost of the weapons. On the other hand empty bays can be installed and then fitted with bays.
