Hello all,

The status of the Guardian is I'm done with the design process and found two numbers that appear to be incorrect.

1. Hull Inoperative/Destroyed Damage Points. The given information is 90/225 which when calculated back to volume is 100 UCP hull. The volume for a 120 UCP hull is 1,620 kl. Using the hull volume for a 120 USP the values are

Inoperative = 1,620/15 = 108

Destroyed = 1,620 = 270

2. The operational duration of 120/360 days does not appear to support the stated power plant fuel load of 120 kl.

A. Following the procedures to calculate Duration of Operation, MT Referee's Manual page 85 a 120 kl fuel tank with a power plant fuel consumption rate of of 0.009 kl/hr. has an operational duration of:

Continuous Operations = 120/0.009/24 = 13,333.333/24 = 555.5556 = 555.6 days

8-hr. Operations = 120/0.009/8 = 13,333.333/8 = 1,666.6667 = 1,666.7 days

B. Using the stated value of 120 continuous days to determine the power plant fuel load results in the following:

120 continuous days of operation = Fuel Load/0.009/24 = 120 days x 0.009 x 24 = 1.08 x 24 = 25.92 kl

360 days of operating for 8 hrs. a day = Fuel load/0.009/8 = 360 days x 0.009 x 8 = 3.24 x 8 = 25.92 kl

My suggestions is to change fuel tank capacity from 120 kl to 25.92 or 26 kl since this would have the least impact to the UCP.

In one of the replies, which I can not seem to track down, someone asked why did the Guardian have armor. The MT Referee's Manual Craft Design procedure page 63 1 - Basic Hull Design 2 Step 8 Minimum Armor requirement for spacecraft and starships is 40 and at TL 12 the standard type is Superdense UCP F.

With the exceptions of not determining the crew, locomotion, and accommodations the designer used the craft design procedures as written.
