Given the highly exotic means of production, I suspect it will be a very long time until this is commercially available. :)
And limited real-time existence . . . it's only transparent while the laser is firing.
But there is ALON (a ceramic compound composed of powdered aluminium and other ingredients. According to Wikipedia, it's about twice as resistant to penetration as armored glass (e.g. a 1.7 inch thickness can stop a .50 BMG round - although the
range at which this occurred is not revealed).
