I wonder if the ubiquitous Type-S and the slightly...unique and marching
to their own theme music ex-Scouts are viewed in the same way as the old

I've always rather liked the "loaned-out Type S" scheme. It wasn't until I read the Aubrey-Maturin novel series by Patrick O'Brian that I really grasped why. It's just like the half-pay Captain Jack Aubrey taking Admiralty spy Stephen Maturin on a "naturalist cruise" that is of course TOTALLY unconnected with English colonial interests in Whatever Back Beyond they are thereby visiting. :)
