Richard,

I was told the interior was increased in size by 15% by the docent who was babysitting the Fury room at The Tank Museum.  I got curious and looked online (if it's online it MUST be true...) and it seems this isn't actually uncommon.  Popular Mechanics has an article at https://www.popularmechanics.com/culture/movies/a11408/heres-how-they-made-furys-fiery-tank-scenes-look-real-17324039/ which discusses it and notes it was increased 10%.  They did something like this in the movie Lebanon ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanon_%282009_film%29) which takes place entirely inside a Centurion.

So - you're right - not a whole lot of difference - but still, enough difference to let the crew actually move around and to let the camera crew shoot (Popular Mechanics article notes there are 42 pieces that pull out so cameras can access everything...)

I guess the movie got mixed reviews but as a tank geek I loved it.

Re: oversize plans, they kind of did that with the Sherman in the movie Fury - about an M4 Sherman crew in NW Europe (if you don't know the movie, find the Fury movie wikipedia page).  Apparently, all of the interior photography was done with a set that was somewhat overscale because things were way too cramped-looking otherwise.Â

I watched Fury in the theater. I've also seen the tour videos posted by The Tank Museum. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between them, to me.
