Dear Paraprofessionals:
This is a reminder that there is still time to register for the 1995
University of Florida Library Paraprofessional Development Group
Conference coming up in February.
Following is a revised schedule for the conference. The Conference will
be held February 17 & 18 at the Holiday Inn Campus location. Registration
fee is $90 and covers meals through lunch of the second day, an evening
social and the banquet.
If you want to attend the Conference but aren't sure if you will be funded,
send your registration form in order to reserve a spot anyway. I would like
to receive payments by December 17, 1994, but if you need more time please
feel free to contact me by phone or email (Carholc@nervm.nerdc.ufl.edu) to
make arrangements.
The Holiday Inn Campus (University Avenue) is taking reservations for anyone
wishing to stay at the conference site, with a guaranteed rate of $49 single
or double occupancy. They also provide free transportation to and from
the airport for all registered guests. Please specifically request Daphen,

management styles as well as how to get along with
administrative leaders.
D. Cataloging
Discussion on outsourcing, backlogs, retro projects,
authorities and serials.
E. Acquisitions
Discussions on new vendor issues/problems, online orders
and payments, and working with collection managers.
F. Reference
Discussions on availability of CD ROMS, LANs, staffing
the desks, bibliographic instruction, and dealing with
the public.
G. Special Libraries
Discussion of knds of problems, solutions, using different
groups on Law, Health, Corporate, etc.
H. Preservation/Conservation
Tour and discussion of the aspects and technologies of
the field, with emphasis on techniques and new projects
in the U.S.
I. Special Services
Discussions on all the special services that libraries
perform including: adult, children's, book mobiles, reading
J. All-In-One's
Discussion of the particular problems of people having to
perform several functions in smaller library settings.
Emphasis will be on various combinations of roles and
coping strategies.
