Special Issue for Serials Review:  Accessibility in Acquisitions & Discovery

Serials Review is planning a special issue on accessibility in acquisitions and discovery This issue will focus on the efforts technical services librarians take to advocate and improve the accessibility of resources, trends in accessibility awareness including improvements and setbacks, and the collaborative projects from libraries, publishers, vendors, and consortia that are moving the industry forward. Potential topics for this issue include the following:

• Techniques for accessibility advocacy with vendors
• Effective license negotiations on accessibility issues
• Environmental scans of electronic resources for accessibility gaps
• Managing accessibility review of electronic collections
• Best practices for making library-produced digital archives and repositories accessible
• Consortial efforts to advocate for accessibility in electronic resources
• Accessibility issues in purchasing and renewal decision-making
• In-house projects that improve accessibility to core library tools like catalogs, discovery layers and library websites
