Hi,
Several of us here at UMass Amherst use Opera’s
https://www.opera.com/) free VNP. It works pretty well for us.
Download the latest version of the Opera Browser.
Once you have Opera, open up the browser.
In the upper left corner of the browser you’ll see the word menu – you almost miss it – it is way at the upper left corner of the browser.
Click on “menu” and a dropdown menu will appear
Choose “Settings”
Then choose “Privacy & security” from the menu that appears in the left column
You’ll see VPN choices on the privacy & settings page (about half-way down the page.
Click the “Enable VPN” box – VPN should now be enabled
To do a check of VPN: open another tab in Opera and type
https://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address in the browser search box. You should have an off-campus IP – the IP location will display in the details of the page that opens.

Subject: [SERIALST] Checking off campus access of E-Resources
We are trying to figure out the best way to check off campus access of our electronic resources when we are
ON campus. We use EZ Proxy for authentication off campus. If you would share how your institution checks access when your users call with problems, or when you are performing setup or general checking of resources.
If you could also say who performs the checking when problem notices come in. Is it the electronic resources person, reference librarian on duty, help desk person … ?
Thank you for your input.
