General Summary:
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Manager of Technical Services – Assistant/Associate Professor
of Library Science This position will be responsible for managing technical services including acquisitions, cataloging, collection budget management, serials, government documents, processing, binding, and workflow management in support of student, faculty,
staff and administration. This position reports to the Head Librarian – Dahlonega Campus.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Manager of Technical Services - Assistant/Associate Professor of Library Science will:

Supervise and train staff in all aspects of centralized acquisition and cataloging of library materials to ensure an optimal workflow to the end user –
students, faculty, staff and the community for the University libraries. Works closely with Systems Librarian and E-Resources Librarian in maintaining access to systems and materials. Responsible for providing reports and other statistical collection information.

Develops, coordinates, and ensures global technical services processes and workflows are accurate, efficient, cost-effective, and responsive to changing
technology and systems.

Performs copy and original descriptive and subject cataloging for various library materials; determine appropriate departmental guidelines in applying rules
of Anglo-American cataloging, Library of Congress cataloging, Library of Congress subject heading policies, and library cataloging policies.
·
Represents the libraries and/or university at campus, local, state, regional, and national meetings and conferences through service on committees, publications
or presentations, holding office, and active participation.
·
Manages and tracks acquisitions invoices in the ILS.
·
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
·
Knowledge of OPAC/ILS, OCLC, Information Architecture, and cataloging rules and processes.
·
Knowledge of Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, Revised (AACR2); RDA, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging).
·
Knowledge of computer hardware and knowledge of software used in cataloging, authority control, and other standard office equipment.
·
Knowledge of application software such as Microsoft Office and other related programs.
·
Basic knowledge of reference and research services.
·
Strong oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
·
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
·
Initiative and flexibility is adapting to new technologies, services, and instructional methodologies.
·
Ability to multi-task, manage staff and workflows in a multi-campus environment.
·
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
·
Master of Library Science from accredited ALA program
·
Two years of supervisory experience in an academic library
·
Library ILS experience.
