Hi, Andrew.

Our print serials check out for one week, so we barcode all incoming issues (except donated back issues) and have since 2008. The number of physical issues we receive has been on downward trend as we move scholarly journals to online access and some popular titles to Flipster. Student assistants do most of the processing.

I have not gone back and barcoded every pre-2008 print issue. Rather, we barcode at time of checkout as an on-the-fly. I run regular reports to catch on-the-fly items to correct the records and remove the on-the-fly tag.

Bib records lacking any attached item record must have a dummy item record to appear in the OPAC. I’m happy to expand/clarify on any point.

Best,

Tiffanie
