Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and Lucille Beeson Law Library invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Acquisitions
Librarian. This is a nontenure-track, full-time faculty position.
Qualified candidates must possess a Master of Library Science or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution, with significant experience in one or more functional areas of technical
services, and significant work experience in organizing and managing the accounting and budget operations of an organization. Candidates must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with a
variety of constituents. Knowledge of and experience with an integrated library system is desired.
This position will be responsible for assisting the Law Library Director in organizing and managing the Law Library budget, including receiving, reviewing, and paying invoices, material coding,
tracking of payment data, filing, and necessary communications with other departments of the University as needed to accomplish those tasks. This position will also advise the Director regarding Law Library financial and operational matters; perform budget
projections and other analysis necessary to reconcile expenditures within available funds; perform end-year closing activities; and assist in preparing reports for accrediting and other agencies to which the Law Library must report. This position will also
identify opportunities to continue the transition of law library resources from print to digital formats.
In collaboration with the Cataloging and Metadata Librarians, this position will ensure that the integrated library system accurately reflects the status of law library materials. This position
will manage the receipt and processing of print material (except periodicals); supervise the updating of loose-leafs and supplemented materials; and manage the receipt and shelving of government documents. This position will supervise one or more hourly library
staff positions.
