We include a missing issue sheet that indicates the issue missing and that you can contact interlibrary loan to request an article. We place the sheet where the missing issue would normally be. Also, we indicate there is a missing issue in the textual holdings by using a comma to denote this. So, it would look like this if we were missing issue no. 2, for example:

v.5:no. 1 (1965:Jan.),v.5:no.3 (1965:Mar.)

Subject: [SERIALST] Binding volumes with missing issues

Hi,

My predecessor left binding instructions which said if a volume is missing issues, you should not bind it.

We have several volumes of Life magazine that we were planning to bind, but I've found many issues missing from each volume (anywhere from 2-5).

Do you ever justify binding volumes with missing issues like this?

Thank you
