A similar question was posted to SERIALST on 7/24/15. Here is what I can offer in response:
The most direct way to get the number of current subscribers to a particular journal is to see if it’s available at the journal’s / publisher’s website; and, if not, then contact the publisher. Depending on the publisher and its size,
they may be able to break out the total subscriber data by country, type of subscriber (individual, institutional), format (print, print+online, online-only), etc. If you are asked why you are interested in this information, do be honest with your response
/ reason for needing or wanting the information. If it’s for your own or a faculty member’s research, you might want to honestly mention what kind of research you or the faculty member is doing, and what you or he/she needs the information for, as the publisher
might see it as another way to obtain positive ‘reach’ for its journal and
may be more willing to share more detailed information. – Gaele

Subject: [SERIALST] Journal subscriptions
Hello everyone,
We were wondering if there is any available data on the number of libraries that subscribe to a given journal (print or online)? Do publishers/vendors
make that information available somewhere?
