Lehigh University seeks a user-centric and versatile librarian to provide library research services for engineering students and faculty, while also serving as electronic collections librarian. Working in a cross-functional, collaborative team environment, the librarian coordinates services for departments in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, creating instructional programs, consulting with students and research faculty, and selecting electronic, print, media, datasets, standards and software resources for engineering disciplines. As electronic collections librarian,  the successful candidate coordinates the library’s processes for trialing, acquiring, licensing and accessing electronic resources, in conjunction with the technical services team and subject librarians. The librarian also administers the Libraries’ open URL link resolver and usage statistics program; tracks other usage indicators and generates reports in support of collection decisions.

                       

Special Considerations:         

·       Periods of high volume/workload may be required at the beginning and ends of semesters

·       Occasional evening, weekend hours for appointments with students; special university events

·       Occasional travel is required to attend professional meetings, local and national; several times per year  

 

Qualifications:

·       Master’s degree in library science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Three to five years related work experience.

·       Educational background encompassing quantitative research and statistics.

·       Strong service and outreach skills; exemplary oral and written communication skills.

·       Experience with the research process in engineering, including the management of research data.

·       Experience with new scholarly technologies for citation, publication and presenting research.

·       Experience with electronic resource management systems and processes.

·       Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position
