The North Dakota State University Libraries seek an experienced and innovative Head, Resource Acquisition, Management, and Discovery (Technical Services) to join an energetic team engaged in building information resources and services at
NDSU. The Head, Resource Acquisition, Management, and Discovery will oversee the technical services unit which is responsible for the acquisition, licensing, description, and discovery of information resources managed or held by the
NDSU Libraries. Duties include developing policies and workflows to leverage the impact of legacy and emerging content across all formats and delivery models; leading the Libraries’ content licensing and developing sharable criteria
and metrics for resource assessment; ensuring the integrity of the Libraries
ILS (Alma/Primo); and serving as a leader within the Libraries with responsibility for advancing the development of library collections, services, and facilities in support of the work of a ranked research university. This position reports to the Dean
of Libraries.
The NDSU Libraries are comprised of the Main Campus Library, the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection, the Institute for Regional Studies and University Archives, the P. N. Haakenson Health Sciences Library,
the Klai Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library, and the Business Learning Center. The Libraries have been identified as an area of investment in NDSU’s 2015 academic strategic plan, which cites developing the Libraries as a 21st-century learning
space that fosters interdisciplinary scholarship and meets the information and service expectations of a ranked research-intensive university. Visit

Minimum Qualifications:
--ALA-accredited M.A., M.S., M.L.S., or M.L.I.S.
--5 years of professional experience in an academic or research library
--3 years supervisory experience with excellent managerial skills
--Demonstrated experience in information resource acquisition, licensing, discovery, and delivery across a broad spectrum of formats, genres, and publication models
--Familiarity with the evolving nature of scholarly communication
--Experience with consortial activities including resource sharing and licensing
--Knowledge of descriptive metadata schema and standards for the creation and description of digital objects in a repository environment
--Experience making criteria-based collection development decisions
--Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a rapidly evolving work environment
--Exceptional oral, written, and numerical communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
--Experience with Ex Libris Alma / Primo
--Experience managing deposit, description and delivery of digital content in an institutional repository or other similar setting
--Familiarity with issues and trends in data management and/ or data literacy
--Additional graduate degree
