Hello,
My name is Alejandra Nann. I am the Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian in Copley Library at the University of San Diego, San
Diego, CA. I am conducting a research study about the impact of ebooks on resource sharing consortiums, and I would like to invite you to participate if you are a librarian currently employed in the state of California.
The purpose of this study is to look at the
advantages and disadvantages of partnering with libraries with larger ebook collections, growth in print collections vs. growth in ebook collections, and overall collection development within
libraries in California.
If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey that takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. You will be
asked about things about your library’s current monograph collection, what resource sharing consortium your library participates in, and how you handle ebook acquisitions and collection development.
You will also be asked a few questions about yourself, such as the kind of library you work for.
If you would be willing to participate in an additional 10 minute follow-up email, you will also be asked to provide your contact information, including
name, email, and university. You do not have to provide this information if you do not wish to. If you do provide it, your name, email, university, and all identifying information will be deleted at the earliest possible time by the researcher. No one besides
the researcher will have access to this information and no personal identifiers will be linked to your responses."
The risks of participating in this study are minimal and no more than those encountered in everyday life. Your responses will be kept
confidential and all your information will be coded with a number. Your email or IP address will automatically be deleted, and nobody will know your identity. We will keep the study data for a minimum of 5 years.
Taking part in this study is entirely optional.
Choosing not to participate will have no effect on your employment, healthcare, or any other services to which you are entitled. You may quit being in the study at any time or decide not to answer any specific questions. Should you decide to participate,
please print out a copy of this page for future reference.
I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the study. You may contact me at (619) 260-7724 or
