Iowa State University Library is currently seeking qualified candidates for two Metadata and Cataloging Librarian positions to be filled
at either the Librarian I or II level. Both positions report to the Head, Metadata and Cataloging Department.
The Metadata and Cataloging Librarian (Serials and Media) coordinates the cataloging of serials and media and supervises support staff
in the cataloging of these formats. Serials to be cataloged are largely print format because access to electronic resource serials is primarily through an OpenURL link resolver, Ex Libris’
SFX. Media materials to be cataloged consist mainly of video and sound recordings, microforms, and computer software. The position participates in the development of policies and documentation of procedures for serials and media. In
addition, the librarian participates in discussions regarding policies for electronic resources and emerging formats.

The Metadata and Cataloging Librarian with a metadata focus supports the creation, extraction, editing and quality control of metadata by the department.
Under the oversight of the metadata management librarian, the position works collaboratively with colleagues to implement local metadata schema and develops crosswalks and metadata application profiles to promote access to the library’s digitized and born-digital
materials.
