The UNLV University Libraries' Collection Management Department is responsible for administration and coordination of collection development and management activities and is part of the Logistics & Resources Distribution Services Division (LRDS). The Collection
Management Department is responsible for the budgeting, identification, selection, licensing, management and evaluation of print and electronic information resources for the UNLV Libraries.
ROLE of the POSITION
This tenure-track faculty position, reporting to the Head of Collection Management, provides leadership and vision for the lifecycle management of the Libraries' licensed and subscribed content, evolving existing workflows and strategies to move the department
forward. This role will oversee and coordinate activities associated with the management of the Libraries' electronic resources and continuing subscription collections including acquisition, licensing, access, discovery and maintenance. Responsibilities of
this position will include:

Managing and coordinating workflows associated with the acquisition and maintenance of serials and e-resources. Redesigning workflows as necessary to enhance
efficient and effective access to resources and establishing procedures to document workflows
·
Supervising 1 Library Faculty and 2 FTE Classified staff members, proactively working with staff to provide goals, expectations, clearly assigned tasks
and establishing best practices in concert with division needs and priorities around e-resource and serial acquisition and management
·
Working in a team structure led by the Head of Collection Management, the incumbent will negotiate and execute license agreements and contribute to evolving
practices to map license terms, track active, expiring and expired licenses and collate license agreements with associated resources and title lists.

In collaboration with the Head of Collection Management assist with budget management by providing expenditure projections for licensed and subscribed content,
monitor expenditure of the $6.5M+ collections budget, manage serials vendor accounts and provide data as needed to assist in evaluation of resources
·
Establish and maintain communications with external service providers, including publishers, vendors, consortia, content providers, and technology suppliers
and collaborate internally with library staff in other departments and Liaison Librarians to provide optimal access to resources for the University community.

Serve as a member of the Collection Development Committee to provide expertise on e-resource management and access, and subscription budget planning
·
UNLV Libraries does not have an ERM tool, but is considering moving to a next generation Library Services Platform (LSP). This role will be integral to
the implementation of the ERM components of such a system or will be tasked with assessing alternate options if a new LSP is not chosen.
As a tenure-track library faculty member, the incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively with others; engage in scholarly activities; and provide service
to the university, the community, and the profession in accordance with Libraries and University standards for promotion and tenure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association; minimum of two years of experience with serials and electronic resources management in an academic library; demonstrated knowledge of the acquisitions process for serials
and electronic resources and understanding of the electronic resources life cycle including licensing, access, fund management, knowledge base management and the technical aspects of electronic resources; experience working with an integrated library system(s),
electronic resources management system(s), and link resolver software; demonstrated commitment to maintaining current awareness of trends in technology, scholarly communication, and standards related to serials and electronic resources; demonstrated ability
to adapt to rapid change and proactively manage technology changes; strong customer service focus; demonstrated skills in time management and workflow management: the ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely manner, attention to detail and strong
organizational skills; evidence of leadership and management skills and an ability to work collegially in a team environment exhibiting organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
Preferred: A minimum of two years as a manager and supervisor of full time staff in a technical academic library setting. A record of professional engagement and scholarship. The Libraries may consider appointment as a tenured faculty member for applicants
with a sufficiently strong and consistent record of experience, service, and scholarship.
SALARY RANGE
This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position at Rank II or III (equivalent to an Assistant or Associate Professor). In addition, the UNLV Libraries is committed to and helps fund professional development opportunities. Salaries are competitive with
those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
